PackCAD Mockup — Frequently Asked Questions
General
PackCAD Mockup is a web-based packaging visualization tool that transforms dielines and artwork into high-fidelity 3D mockups. Import a dieline, fold your design, add front and back artwork, and export customized 3D assets — no download or installation required.
PackCAD Mockup runs entirely in your web browser. It works on MacOS, Windows, and Linux in all modern browsers. For best performance we recommend using Google Chrome, where the app has undergone the most testing.
Workflow
You can import vector dielines as SVG files and artwork layers as PNG or JPG.
Prepare dielines as SVG with cut lines in black and fold lines in red, blue, or magenta. PackCAD Mockup supports dielines in inches (in), centimeters (cm), millimeters (mm), or points/pixels (pt/px). For more information, read our Getting Started tutorial.
By exporting your design with "Use Artboards" selected, your artwork will have pixel-perfect alignment on your folded 3D model in PackCAD Mockup. See our Getting Started tutorial for more details.
Artwork is rendered in RGB for on-screen accuracy. Spot colors are not currently supported, but this feature may be added in the future — let us know if it's important to your workflow!
PackCAD Mockup works with any flat dieline that can be folded into a 3D shape, including tuck-end boxes, mailer boxes, sleeves, trays, display boxes, and custom structures. If you can draw it as an SVG dieline, you can fold it in PackCAD Mockup. See our Getting Started tutorial for a walkthrough.
We don't provide a built-in template library, but PackCAD Mockup is compatible with dielines created from external libraries, templating apps, or drawn from scratch.
PackCAD Mockup can export 3D models in glTF, GLB, or OBJ + MTL formats, or embedded within a standalone HTML file for interactive viewing in any browser. You can find examples of these files in our Getting Started tutorial (in the "Export 3D Model" section). Also check out our Blender template and tutorial to learn how to create photorealistic renderings from your 3D models.
PackCAD Mockup also supports exporting high resolution 3D renderings in PNG format. You can find example renderings and additional information in our Getting Started tutorial (in the "Export High-Res PNG" section).
Yes — use the HTML export option to create a standalone file containing your interactive 3D model. Open it in any web browser to view and rotate the mockup, or share the file with collaborators and clients. The 3D model is stored directly in the file and is not hosted online. See our Getting Started tutorial for details.
We're also planning to add a secure online viewer for sharing mockups privately — expected June 2026. Let us know if this is important to your workflow!

Yes — PackCAD Mockup supports keyframe-based folding animations, letting you define keyframes with different fold angles and play back the full sequence. This is great for presentations, social media, or understanding how a complex design folds. See our Folding Simulation guide for a detailed walkthrough.
Pricing & Licensing
PackCAD Mockup is available for commercial use through monthly or annual subscription plans. A free personal-use plan is also available, with limited export options. See the Pricing page for full details.

Privacy & Support
You retain full ownership of any dielines and artwork you upload while using PackCAD Mockup. We don't permanently store your uploaded files, but we may collect limited metadata (e.g., number of creases, presence of curved folds, import errors, etc.) to improve software performance. We do not use your uploaded files to train artificial intelligence (AI). For full details, please refer to our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
